I've built this website to be able to easily check which version is most popular for modding and modpacks, because I feel like after Mojang switched to smaller game drops in 1.21+, modders don't really agree on one version to mod anymore like 1.20.1, 1.16.5, 1.12.2, 1.7.10, etc.
The data is fetched from the public APIs of Modrinth and CurseForge. Modrinth's API is very fast and reliable, while CurseForge's API is quite slow and sometimes times out. Because of this, fetching data can take a while, especially if you select a wide range of Minecraft versions.
Analytics Tool: This website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-focused web analytics service, to collect only aggregated usage and performance metrics for our site. Cloudflare's documentation (Cloudflare Blog: Free, Privacy-First Analytics for a Better Web) confirms that this service "does not track individual end users" and gathers only minimal performance data. Typical data include total page views, load times, browser and device type breakdowns, visitor country, and related performance statistics (Cloudflare Developers Documentation).
No Cookies or Personal Data: Cloudflare Web Analytics does not use any cookies, local storage, or fingerprinting to track visitors. It explicitly does not log or retain personal identifiers (no IP addresses, names, emails, etc.). All analytics data are fully anonymized and reported in aggregate form only (Cloudflare Web Analytics FAQ).
Legal Basis: I use these analytics to monitor and improve the website's performance and to satisfy my hunger for statistics. Because the collected data are anonymous and contain no personal information, I rely on legitimate interest in website administration. Under the GDPR, no additional user consent is required for this kind of privacy-preserving analytics service (Cloudflare Web Analytics Overview).
